Join the Crew for Red Dirt Thursdays in Cuyuna. These every-other-Thursday work nights focus on maintaining and improving the trail system in partnership with the DNR. We’re continuing work in the Yawkey Unit and will be marking puddles and cutting drains.
Projects range from corridor clearing to tread work and event prep. Tools provided. No experience needed. Come for what you can. Stay after for a little trail magic.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Please download Trailbot and join the Cuyuna State Recreation Area as a volunteer before your first work night. This is how we track volunteer hours and help keep trail work organized.
Schedule:
5:15–5:30 p.m. | Sign-in, tool check-out, and project meeting
5:30–6:00 p.m. | Prep time for Trail Captains and Trail Bosses
6:00–7:15 p.m. | Trail work
7:15–7:30 p.m. | Return tools, log volunteer hours, and trailside hangout
What to bring:
Full, refillable water bottle
Bug spray
Buff or bandana to cover your face, as needed
Close-toed shoes
Long pants
Trail tools, if you have personal tools you prefer to use
Camp chair and BYOB if you plan to hang out after
Participants are encouraged to BYO camp chairs and BYOB for trailside happy hour and hangs.
What to Expect
A variety of trail maintenance tasks from berm rework, corridor clearing, treadway rebuilds, tamping, pruning, weed whipping, raking, drain cutting, etc.
