August 9 | Kettle Weed Whipping Work Night
We are organizing a weed whipping day at Cruser’s Kettle this Saturday, August 9. If volunteers can knock out key sections before our main workday, that would be helpful as well! The more we finish now, the less we’ll have to tackle this Saturday.
Date/Time: Saturday, August 9 at 9 a.m.
Meeting Location: Cuyuna Connector Container | Pick up equipment & head to appropriate areas.
IMPORTANT: No tool training will be offered. This work is for volunteers who are already comfortable and experienced with weed whips and brush clearing tools.
Registration Required; deadline: Thursday, 8/7
Weed Whip Crew Assignments (12 Volunteers Needed): SEE MAP
Section 1 (Parking Lot): 2 people
Section 2: 2 people (can leapfrog to Section 7 if time allows)
Section 3: 3 people
Section 7: 2 people
Section 8: 3 people
Section priority (if choosing your own): 3, then 8, 1, 2, and 7.
Skipping Sections: 4, 5, 6 (these areas are closed)
Note: There is very little weed whipping needed in dense forest areas where the sun doesn’t hit the ground. Be strategic about where you focus your time.
Dirt Work Crew: A separate group of 3 to 4 people will be doing dirt work between Rib Tickler (about two-thirds through Section 7) and EMS 2.
2025 Cuyuna Crusher | Sunday, Aug 24
Hosted by the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber and the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series, this event relies on volunteers to ensure its safety and success.
Event Volunteers will receive a free event t-shirt to wear during their shift, as well as a meal and beverage at any of the on-site food trucks.
